Thousands of evacuees and hundreds of thousands of fed people - the contribution of Krishna Consciousness devotees to the well-being and strengthening of Ukraine

The International Society for Krishna Consciousness in Ukraine is an ancient monotheistic religious tradition based on the Vedic scriptures and has tens of millions of followers in India and around the world. In 1965, the founder-acharya of the Society, A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, transplanted this ancient religious tradition to Western soil.

Followers of Krishna Consciousness profess the development of love for God, a compassionate attitude towards every living being as a child of God, and respect for other religious traditions as different paths to one God.

During the difficult and tragic period of Russian aggression, Krishna devotees made a significant contribution to the well-being and strengthening of Ukraine. In particular, they actively participated in evacuating people, providing humanitarian aid, and distributing food.

In the most critical moments of the war, members of the Society in Ukraine and Europe organized and coordinated the evacuation of thousands of people from dangerous territories where hostilities were taking place.

Additionally, through the "FOOD OF LIFE" charity program, since the beginning of the war, our volunteers have distributed 2,300,000 portions of food. Refugees, temporarily displaced persons, people in de-occupied regions, children, and all categories of vulnerable people received food.

Srila Prabhupada, the founder-acharya of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness, wished that at least 10 kilometers from Krishna temples there would be no hungry people. That is why our Society has deployed more than 100 food distribution points in over 20 cities of Ukraine. Every day we distribute tons of food, up to 13-14 thousand portions.

Since our religion professes the principle of mercy to all living beings (ahimsa), we consume and distribute lacto-vegetarian food.

One of the main areas of activity has become the distribution of necessary clothing, essential items, and medicines for citizens of Ukraine and medical institutions. Volunteers of our Society have provided humanitarian assistance to tens of thousands of citizens.

As a result of the war, millions of Ukrainians lost their homes, relatives, and friends, were injured, and went through other cruel situations, receiving deep emotional and spiritual injuries. People need a word that can revive and give hope for the future.

Belief in God has always been and remains the main component of personality. In faith, a person finds refuge in the most difficult moments of their life. It is impossible to break a person with unshakable faith, just as it is impossible to break a nation in which such people are the majority. With this in mind, members of the Society for Krishna Consciousness spread spiritual knowledge and provide emotional and spiritual support and comfort to others.

We believe that Ukrainian society will overcome all challenges and troubles with joint efforts!
